Trauma Counselling & Trauma Recovery

Trauma can affect far more than our memories.

It can influence how we feel about ourselves, how we relate to others, how safe we feel and how our body responds to stress.

Trauma counselling provides a supportive space to understand these responses and work towards greater emotional safety and resilience.

Trauma Can Affect…

  • emotions
  • thoughts
  • relationships
  • trust
  • boundaries
  • self-worth
  • sleep
  • nervous-system responses
  • emotional regulation

Types of Experiences We Can Explore

  • childhood trauma
  • complex trauma
  • relational trauma
  • emotional abuse
  • psychological abuse
  • domestic and family violence
  • difficult life experiences

A Trauma-Informed Approach

This begins with helping your nervous system restore balance and the ability to self-soothe when the thoughts can become overwhelming.

Once the window of tolerance has been expanded, then we can work towards how you prefer to work with your traumatic memories, using movement, talking it through, or looking at what improves the situation for you.

The process is collaborative, sometimes experimental, but always at your pace, and with you having the choice in how you wish to proceed.
